COMEDY star Janey Godley has signed up to promote awareness of the damage caused by addiction.

A series of events will be held next week outlining the dangers of addiction. And a local audience will have a preview of Godley's one-woman play about a heroin addict, Smack - Point of Yes, before she takes the show to the London stage in June.

The Dumbarton Road Corridor branch of the Scottish Drugs Forum said the events would focus on alcohol addiction and other drugs that are commonly abused.
